Ingredients

– Β½ cup unsalted butter, softened

– 1 cup light brown sugar

– 2 large eggs, room temperature

– Β½ cup sour cream, room temperature (plain Greek yogurt can be substituted)

– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

– 2 cups all-purpose flour

– 1 Β½ teaspoons baking powder

– ΒΌ teaspoon baking soda

– 1 teaspoon ground cardamom

– Β½ teaspoon salt

– 2 cups peeled and diced ripe pears (Bartlett, Bosc, or Anjou recommended)

– ΒΌ cup light brown sugar

– ΒΌ cup all-purpose flour

– 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

– 3 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cubed

Instructions

1-Preheat oven: Preheat oven to 350Β°F and grease a 9Γ—5-inch loaf pan.

2-Cream the softened butter and sugar: Cream the softened butter and light brown sugar until light and fluffy.

3-Beat in the eggs: Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in sour cream and vanilla extract; the mixture may appear curdled at this stage.

4-Combine dry ingredients and mix: In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, cardamom, salt, and baking soda. Add dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until just combined. Gently fold in the diced pears.

5-Pour batter: Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the top.

6-Prepare topping: For the topping, combine sugar, flour, and cinnamon. Cut in cold butter with a fork until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle evenly over the batter.

7-Bake and cool: Bake for 55 to 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to finish cooling.
