Ingredients
– 1 package (13 oz.) refrigerated pizza dough or enough homemade pizza dough for one pizza
– 2 cups marinara sauce
– 1/2 teaspoon onion powder to mix into the sauce
– 1/2 teaspoon dried basil to mix into the sauce
– 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley to mix into the sauce
– 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano to mix into the sauce
– 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder to mix into the sauce
– 1/4 teaspoon salt to mix into the sauce
– 1/4 teaspoon pepper to mix into the sauce
– 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper to mix into the sauce
– 1 cup freshly grated mozzarella cheese
– 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
– 32 pepperoni slices
– 1/2 cup finely chopped green bell peppers or a mix of preferred chopped toppings
Instructions
1-Lightly flour a piece of parchment paper and roll the dough into a 12ร16 inch (30ร40 cm) rectangle to create a solid base.
2-Whisk together the sauce ingredients and evenly spread 3/4 cup over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border on one long edge to help with sealing.
3-Microwave pepperoni on a paper towel-lined plate for 20 seconds, then pat off excess grease to keep things from getting soggy.
4-Evenly layer 1 cup mozzarella, the prepared pepperoni, 1/2 cup finely chopped green bell peppers, and 1/3 cup Parmesan over the sauce for that classic pizza flavor.
5-Starting from the long side nearest you, tightly roll the dough up, sealing the seam and pinching in toppings, then trim uneven ends for neat results.
6-Cut the roll into 12 equal pinwheels by halving it, quartering each half, and slicing those into three pieces each.
7-Place the pinwheels cut side up on the baking sheet, spacing them out for even cooking.
8-Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden and the cheese is bubbly, creating a gooey, irresistible finish.
9-Let cool for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to firm up, and garnish with fresh parsley if desired before serving with warmed pizza sauce.
