πŸ„ Mushroom Goat Cheese Tarte offers a rich combination of savory mushrooms and creamy goat cheese wrapped in a flaky, golden puff pastry crust.
🌿 This recipe balances earthy herbs and a touch of sweetness, perfect for an elegant appetizer or light meal.

  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

– 6 ounces mild goat cheese brought to room temperature

– 1 tablespoon honey

– 1 tablespoon olive oil

– 1 additional tablespoon olive oil for cooking

– Β½ teaspoon fresh thyme heaping and chopped

– Salt to taste

– Pepper to taste

– 10 ounces mushrooms cleaned, stems cut off at cap base, and finely sliced

– 2 shallots finely sliced (can substitute with yellow onions)

– 2 tablespoons brandy (or cognac, whiskey, or bourbon)

– 1 sheet puff pastry defrosted and rolled out

– 1 egg beaten with 1 teaspoon of water for egg wash

Instructions

1-First, heat your oven to 400Β°F and prepare your ingredients by chopping the mushrooms and shallots finely. This sets the stage for a quick cook.

2-In a skillet, warm the additional tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat and sautΓ© the shallots and mushrooms until they brown, which takes about 5 minutes remember not to add salt yet to keep things from getting watery.

3-Once the veggies are ready, mix the 6 ounces of goat cheese with 1 tablespoon honey, 1 tablespoon olive oil, the Β½ teaspoon chopped thyme, and a bit of salt and pepper until it’s creamy. For the puff pastry, roll out the sheet on a floured surface to make it thinner, then cut 1-inch strips from the sides and use the egg wash to attach them as a border.

4-Transfer the pastry to a parchment-lined baking sheet.

5-Spread the goat cheese mixture inside the border and add the mushroom mix on top.

6-Brush the border with egg wash for a nice shine.

7-Bake for 20 minutes, then let it rest before serving.
