Instructions

1-Peel, core, and slice 6 cups of apples, then coat them with 2 tablespoons of pure maple syrup and 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon in a large bowl.

2-In another bowl, mix 1/2 cup old-fashioned rolled oats, 3 tablespoons whole wheat flour, 1/3 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup finely chopped walnuts, and the remaining 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon.

3-Add 3 tablespoons butter and 1 teaspoon maple or vanilla extract to the dry ingredients, then cut them together to form coarse crumbs for the topping.

4-Place the coated apple mixture into an 8ร—8-inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.

5-Sprinkle the oat and walnut topping over the apples.

6-Bake at 375ยฐF for 40 to 45 minutes until the apples are tender and the topping is golden. Let it cool slightly before serving.
