– Zest of 2 regular limes or 4 key limes

– Fresh whipped cream (as needed)

Instructions

1-Getting started with these key lime pie bars is simple and fun. First, heat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C) and line an 8-inch square pan with parchment paper to make removal easy later. Mix the graham cracker crumbs, sugar, and melted butter together in a bowl until it forms a crumbly dough; press this firmly into the prepared pan to create a solid base.

2-Once the crust is in place, bake it for about 10 minutes until it turns a nice golden color, then let it cool completely. For the filling, beat the softened cream cheese until it’s smooth and creamy, then slowly add in the sweetened condensed milk, fresh lime juice, and lime zest, mixing everything well. Pour this mixture over the cooled crust and spread it out evenly.

3-Pop it back in the oven at 350Β°F (175Β°C) for another 10 minutes; the filling should set but still have a slight jiggle in the center. After baking, let the bars cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes, then chill them in the fridge for at least 3 hours.
