🥗 This Green Bean Casserole offers a comforting blend of tender green beans and creamy mushroom sauce, perfect for holiday gatherings.
🧅 The crispy fried onion topping adds a delightful crunch, making each bite flavorful and satisfying.

  • Total Time: 50 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

4 cups frozen cut green beans (or use canned or fresh as alternatives)

1 can (10.5 ounces) condensed cream of mushroom soup

½ cup milk

1 teaspoon soy sauce

½ teaspoon black pepper

Salt to taste

1½ cups crispy fried onions, divided for layering (use 1 cup in the mix and ½ cup on top)

1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese added to the sauce for extra creaminess

Minced garlic or garlic powder for additional seasoning

Instructions

1-Preheat the oven and prepare the green beans: Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C), which sets the stage for even baking. If you’re using frozen or fresh green beans, cook them until they’re tender-crisp; if canned, just drain them well. This step keeps the veggies from getting mushy and ensures a great texture.

2-Mix all ingredients in a bowl for even distribution: In a large bowl, mix the green beans with the condensed cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, black pepper, salt, 1 cup of crispy onions, and any optional cheese. Stir everything together until it’s evenly coated, then pour the mixture into a 2-quart baking dish.

3-Bake initially, stir, add topping, and finish baking: Bake it uncovered for 30 to 35 minutes until it’s bubbly and hot. After that, give it a quick stir, add the remaining ½ cup of crispy onions on top, and bake for another 10 minutes until the topping turns golden and crisp. The result is a dish with that perfect blend of creamy sauce and crispy topping everyone loves.
