๐Ÿ„ Crispy Fried Mushrooms offer a perfect crunchy texture combined with savory seasoning for a delightful snack or appetizer.
๐Ÿ”ฅ This recipe is easy to follow and results in golden, crispy mushrooms that pair wonderfully with a variety of dips and sides.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

– 1 1/4 cups panko breadcrumbs

– 1 1/2 teaspoons seasoning (a flavorful blend)

– 1 teaspoon marjoram

– 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

– 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

– 1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper

– 1 cup buttermilk

– 1 1/2 lbs white button mushrooms, stems trimmed

– 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

– Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

1-Getting crispy fried mushrooms just right starts with prepping your ingredients carefully, which takes about 15 minutes of hands-on time and another 20 minutes for cooking. Begin by mixing the dry components to ensure even flavor distribution throughout the dish.

2-In a small bowl, combine 1 1/4 cups panko breadcrumbs, 1 1/2 teaspoons seasoning, 1 teaspoon marjoram, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt, and 1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper. Pour 1 cup buttermilk into another small bowl for dipping. Wash and dry 1 1/2 lbs white button mushrooms thoroughly, trimming the stems as needed.

3-Place the mushrooms in a zipper storage bag, add 1/2 cup all-purpose flour, and shake to coat them evenly. Dip each mushroom first in the buttermilk, then roll it in the seasoned panko mixture for that perfect breading. Heat 1 1/4 inches of vegetable oil in a heavy pot to 375 degrees Fahrenheit, and fry a few breaded mushrooms at a time for 2-3 minutes until they turn golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and drain on paper towels.
