πŸ§€ The melty mozzarella and savory pesto add a delicious Italian twist, perfect for a healthy and satisfying meal.

  • Total Time: 22 minutes
  • Yield: 4 burgers

Ingredients

– 1 lb lean ground chicken (90% to 93% lean)

– Β½ cup chopped fresh spinach

– Β½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese

– 1 tablespoon pesto

– 2 cloves garlic, minced

– Β½ teaspoon kosher salt

– ΒΌ teaspoon black pepper

– 1 tablespoon canola oil for cooking

– Whole wheat burger buns and desired toppings for serving

Instructions

1-Getting started: Getting started with these burgers is as easy as pulling out a bowl and your ingredients. I always begin by washing and prepping everything to keep things organized and fun. This way, you avoid any last-minute rushes and focus on the joy of cooking.

2-Mixing ingredients: In a medium bowl, mix the ground chicken with chopped spinach, mozzarella cheese, pesto, garlic, salt, and black pepper. Use a fork and your hands to gently combine it all don’t overmix, or the patties might turn out tough. Once blended, divide the mixture into 4 equal parts and shape them into patties about Β½ inch thick.

3-Cooking the patties: Heat a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat and add the canola oil. Cook the patties for 5-6 minutes on one side until they’re nicely browned. Flip them over and cook for another 5-6 minutes until fully done if you like extra cheese, add some on top now so it melts perfectly. Let the burgers rest for a few minutes before serving them on whole wheat buns with your favorite toppings.
