๐Ÿ Enjoy the classic fall treat with this easy homemade caramel apples recipe.
๐Ÿฌ Delight in sweet, juicy apples coated with rich, buttery caramel that you can customize with fun toppings.

  • Total Time: 1 hour
  • Yield: 8 to 9 caramel apples 1x

Ingredients

Scale

8 to 9 cold apples

1 and 3/4 cups heavy cream

1 cup light corn syrup

2 cups packed light or dark brown sugar

1/4 cup unsalted butter at room temperature

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Instructions

1-First, start by washing and drying the apples thoroughly to help the caramel stick well.

2-Then, insert wooden sticks into the apples for easy dipping and handling.

3-Next, in a saucepan, combine the brown sugar, light corn syrup, heavy cream, butter, and salt, heating them over medium heat while stirring constantly.

4-Once the mixture begins to boil, continue cooking until it reaches the soft-ball stage, around 235ยฐF to 240ยฐF on a candy thermometer for the ideal texture.

5-At this point, remove it from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract to add a rich flavor boost.

6-Dip each cold apple into the caramel, twisting to coat evenly, and let the excess drip off before placing them on a lined tray.

7-Allow the apples to set at room temperature or in the fridge for quicker results.

8-For sweet variations, you can add toppings like nuts right after dipping.
