Ingredients

– 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter

– 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar, divided (1 cup plus 1/4 cup for topping, plus 1 teaspoon optional for sprinkling before finishing)

– 1 cup self-rising flour

– 1 cup milk

– 2 cups blackberries (fresh or frozen)

Instructions

1-Melt 1/2 cup butter in a microwavable dish.

2-In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup granulated sugar and 1 cup self-rising flour. Whisk in 1 cup milk until smooth.

3-Pour melted butter into the batter and whisk to combine.

4-Butter a baking dish.

5-Rinse and pat dry the blackberries if fresh or thaw and dry if frozen.

6-Pour the batter into the buttered baking dish.

7-Evenly distribute the 2 cups blackberries over the batter.

8-Sprinkle 1/4 cup sugar over the top of the berries.

9-Bake at 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) for 1 hour, or until the cobbler is golden and bubbly.

10-Optional: 10 minutes before the cobbler is finished baking, sprinkle an additional teaspoon of sugar on top to boost texture and sweetness.
